When I hear someone like you use the word "scary," it makes me wonder.

Since this is a ski traverse, I don't feel to guilty about skiing off the ridge. Plus, that increases the vert.

I'll keep you posted on our progress.

JaredJaredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03034115882272086104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6845005882900867258.post-6506637878749999202010-04-01T22:56:42.009-06:002010-04-01T22:56:42.009-06:00Jared, I stumbled on this somehow. Tag Monte Cristo and all of the peaks at the head of the Canyon, which means the Devil's Castle and at that point in the day it's spooky looking too. We didn't have the Will for it. Lone Peak? It didn't make sense with our exit plan but it does make sense looking at a map, beer in hand ...

Have a blast,
MFTAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6845005882900867258.post-10840908307843601142010-04-01T20:59:53.022-06:002010-04-01T20:59:53.022-06:00More like ski through the night. . .More like ski through the night. . .Jaredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03034115882272086104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6845005882900867258.post-30185554823942311372010-04-01T20:42:55.332-06:002010-04-01T20:42:55.332-06:00Overnighter?Overnighter?Grizzly Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05216018097001642270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6845005882900867258.post-5199652413778865772010-03-31T12:06:22.667-06:002010-03-31T12:06:22.667-06:00Love the speed traverse! Don't cross the road seems fair.
Thunders are not need as they are technically not on the Cottonwood rim. It's like heading North to tag Kessler, although cool, not on the true rim.
I say out Bells as it will hold snow better than down to Alpine and is in the same county as the starting point. A true "toilet bowl".
Just waiting on the weather....Bart Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04589571857654933256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6845005882900867258.post-3792983936269054342010-03-30T19:07:44.266-06:002010-03-30T19:07:44.266-06:00My feelings are that you should hit the 11,000 foo...My feelings are that you should hit the 11,000 footers and don't cross the road. Skip the others if necessary. One indication that the Cottonwood ridge is gnarly is that Twight didn't stay on it without a rope. It's got some 4th class in the summer that could definitely be ugly in winter.

Some more info: http://www.summitpost.org/list/171327/wasatch-11-000-foot-peaks.html

and,

http://www.summitpost.org/area/range/171207/wasatch-cottonwood-ridge.html

Conveniently, Wolverine and others are under 11,000. But...does that mean you include the Thunders?SLC sherpahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06591136079025670628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6845005882900867258.post-81225074426775327432010-03-30T18:55:55.678-06:002010-03-30T18:55:55.678-06:00Yea, I second Ski Bike Junkie.
